Essential Oil Lovin' Veterinarian

Janis Fisher, DVM, Certified in Veterinary Acupuncture (CVA), Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT), Certified Animal Chiropractic (CAC), Animal Essential Oil Educator

I was born in Ontario, but grew up in Frederiction, New Brunswick. So I have always been an east coast girl! I graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 1997.   Early on in my career I found that many of my patients were not tolerating the non steroidal anti-inflammatories that we were using to manage their pain and I went looking for other options. I was interested in Acupuncture for pain relief but when I was introduced to Traditional Chinese medicine I found far more benefits than just pain management. I was living in Massachusetts when I took an Acupuncture course offered at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University and I went on to become a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist in 2005 through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.   Around that time, I started training my Duck Toller Cross Lexie in Agility. I loved the sport! Working with K9 athletes lead me to become interested in canine rehabilitation and I became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in 2010.

I love working as a Rehabilitation Veterinarian. Being able to get up and move around pain free has a huge impact on a pet’s quality of life. I love hearing from my clients that I’ve “given them their dog back”, or that “she’s acting like a puppy again”, or that they can “now do their regular walks together”. This improves the owner’s lives as much as their pets’ and I love that I can help the whole family.

In 2015 I became Certified in Animal Chiropractic and this treatment system has allowed me to help even more pets.

And of course I am also using dōTERRA Essential Oils. Copaiba and Frankincense are my two best friends! And I love that when I use the essential oils, it has far reaching effects on many body systems and can improve the overall health of the pet and not just provide some much needed pain relief.

I offer monthly lectures to my clients and those around my area on how to safely use essential oils with pets as well as online webinars. I answer questions from other veterinarians and help to cultivate their interest in using essential oils, and debunk any myths they may have heard about them.

My passion is to bring therapeutic grade essential oils into every home, and I hope to help you on your essential oil journey!
